New Plymouth & Wellington

Overview

In our digital age, protection against ever increasingly skilled digital threats are paramount. To educate, combat and discuss this issue Citrus Consulting hosted a Data management and Protection Seminar. By inviting local business, clients and members of New Zealand’s IT network to discuss data security and management, Citrus Consulting sought to engage the community on this issue. Two guest speakers contributed their insight, experience and expertise to the discussion.

Guest speakers included:

New Plymouth: Keith Wallace, IT Manager for Taranaki District Health Board

Wellington: Gavin Ng, Manager Infrastructure Service Delivery, Wellington International Airport

Outcomes

The events went very well with much debate between the attendees around the technologies presented. We cut the New Plymouth debate short as we had run out of time.

A follow up was done with the customers and the results were encouraging. A common comment was “it was very professional and engaging” and that the content was great. All the attendees were keen to attend another event.

One comment from a Wellington customer was that Citrus had really gone up in their rating from a professional stand point and we were invited to work with that customer in the future. The event opened doors to a few other customers who we have since done business with.

Auckland & Hamilton

Overview

Data Management is important in New Zealand for everyone. Those in Government face upcoming compliance requirements. Those in the commercial sector face community expectations that their data will be properly managed and protected.

There is also the operational imperative, to get up and running quickly when critical data is lost or damaged, be it through malware, a natural disaster or a simple accident. In this event we included the Talon Storage technology!

Discussion

The seminar discussion led by Kevin Rapson & Adrian Hall, who were also be joined by Steve Beckwith of HEB Construction who has recently implemented NetApp and Talon in Azure. NetApp, Veeam and Talon were presented by Chris Mende, Mike Ferguson and Sean Scott.

Key topics discussed were:

  • Experiences with NetApp technology in the hybrid cloud
  • Talon Experience with remote branch offices
  • Blending technologies to suit your situation in the most cost-effective way
  • Use Veeam to protect your whole environment from local to remote

Outcome

The events were extremely well attended with the Auckland event needing the venue provider to add seating. The presenters literally had to stand at the door. A follow up of this event was done with all who attended, and the comment was “It was a really useful and interesting event” and that they were happy they attended. An additional comment that was made by several of the attendees was that they were impressed that we had managed to find products that integrated so well.

All who attended said that they were excited for the next Citrus Consulting event.

EBC Event

Overview

NetApp offered us the opportunity to take a number of customers to San Jose in the USA to attend presentation from NetApp, Google and Cisco who were co-sponsors of the event.

I had such a good response from the customers that NetApp had to ask us not to invite any additional customers as they were now overbooked!

The purpose of the unique opportunity to:

  • Gain valuable insights and learnings from customers and digital leaders paving the way;
  • Network and engage with thought-leaders, innovators and industry peers to discuss technology and business issues, and
  • Spark your own innovative thinking and ideas to power your organisation’s digital transformation
  • Simplify IT and reduce costs while being responsive to changing market conditions and business needs.
  • Understand how FlexPod is the hybrid cloud platform built for the changing landscape and the future of IT.

The attendees were invited to obtain first-hand insights into how four of the world’s leading global IT vendors with a combined market capitalisation of USD$750B think about investing in R and D to gain competitive advantage with the right initiatives at the right time. Next generation technologies and thinking from industry leaders, including the latest in cloud, analytics, AI, machine-learning and Converged Infrastructure solutions from an executive perspective will be discussed in back to back workshops compressed into 3.5 days.

Outcomes

The customers that attended had nothing but praise for firstly how well the event was run and secondly the value of the materials they received from the various presenters.

It was not just all learning as we were given the opportunity to visit Alcatraz which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.

The Outcome of the event forged stronger relationships with our customers and has resulting in continued growth with these customers.
